Chile national football team 1997

The Chile national football team played a total number of seventeen international matches in the 1997 season under the guidance of Uruguayan manager Nelson Acosta, including three (lost) games at the 1997 Copa América. The team qualified for the 1998 FIFA World Cup by finishing fourth in the overall-standings of the CONMEBOL-zone, just before Peru. Chile had a better goaldifference (+14) than the Peruvians (–1).
